Chem Is Try

It is 5:33 right now, which means I work overnight a second time. It is known to us all that PH.D students who major in chemistry will have little free time once they get into the laboratory. Yes! It is true! How I want to go back to my dormitory and have a good sleep! However, I have to keep up. Just as was said by Prof. Zhenfeng Xi, chemistry equals to "chem is try". People who want to make great progress must keep trying. I have no choice at present for I have set up a goal of going abroad for further study. I look forward to the coming of that day, when I appears in Cambridge, Massachusatts, United States.

Typhoon

Nuri, which is a horrible typhoon, landed in Hong Hong at 17:00 yesterday. After that it slowly skimmed through Shenzhen and brought a strong wind and precipitation. Now it has became weaker and weaker.
I had to stay indoors for a whole day yesterday. It was just like an earthquake when the typhoon passed through, for the building I lived in seemed to be collapsing because of the heavy storm. It is said that the typhoon had brought about a large casualty. Fortunately, my colleagues and I are all safe. Thank goodness!

My Feeling

I have been in Shenzhen for one month and a half. Frankly speaking, I am not familiar with all the things around me. My everyday life is reading papers one by one, for the lab is still under decoration. Dr. Zhigang Wang, my tutor, is so busy that I can soldom see him from morning till night. The 2008 Summer Olympic Games is drawing to an end. China who has got 46 gold medals is ranking No.1 at present. I look forward to a perfect result.

Plagiarism

It is known to us all that plagiarism, which can also been regarded as another kind of stealing things from others, is a behavior that is looked down upon by all the people who is engaged in writing, especially in academia. It is a regulation that people can write an article the content of which may include what is quoted from others. However, the reference should be given clear indication of.
I was extremely astonished when I saw the comment written by my foreign teacher. The word "Plagiarism" which made me feel embarrassed gave me deep impression. It was really my fault. I had paid too much for my wrong-doings since I was born. But this time, in my opinion, it was one of the most serious deeds I had ever done. Although I regretted what I had done, it is of no use. For one could not go back in time and make a modification. What I could do was to correct my mistake and not to make the same mistake the next time.
Plagiarism which is now familiar to us will never happen on me. I look forward to the disappearance of the word "Plagiarism" from the dictionary.

Too Much for a Toy

Many people like reading books, from which they can gain enough knowledge without which they can hardly exist in the world. Nevertheless, the world is a great book, of which they that never stir from home read only a page.
When I was young—maybe at the age of six—my mother, on a holiday, filled my pocket with coppers. I was so glad that I run to a shop in a breath where all sorts of toys were sold. Being charmed with a plane model that I had seen by the way, in the hands of another boy, I handed over all my money for one. After I came home, I played with the plane model all over the house. My father, when I told of the bargain I had made, said that I had spent three times as much as the plane model was worth. He also put me in mind of what good things I might have bought with the rest of the money. Ultimately, I knew how stupid I was. In fact, thinking about the matter gave me more chagrin than the plane model gave me pleasure.
This, however, was afterwards of use to me, for the impression continued on my mind, so that often, when I was tempted to buy something I did not need, I said to myself, "Don't give too much for a toy", and I saved my money. If I saw someone fond of appearance who had fine clothes, fine houses, fine furniture, all above his fortune, and for which he had run into debt. "Oh", said I, "he has paid too much for a toy".
In short, what I have understood is that one should not put a false value on things—to give too much for a toy. That could not be found in any book all over the world.

New Beijing, Great Olympics

I was extremely excited when it was announced that Beijing had been rewarded the right to host the 2008 Summer Olympic Games. Nevertheless, the focus should be shifted from making a promise to fulfill the promise which has already been made.
In my point of view, to bridge the gap between the promise and reality, Beijing still has a long way to go. To begin with, infrastructure construction should be the primary consideration. As it is known to us all that a good many of tall buildings, which were elaborately designed and built, has become a beautiful citysight which can seldom seen in other cities in China. At the same time, quite a number of single-storey houses still exist, which has badly affected the city appearance. Moreover, traffic jam has always been a headache in Beijing. The scene of long lines of vehicles worming their way inch by inch will surely cause great inconvenience, and blemish the image of Beijing meanwhile. In the second place, environment problems brought by emitting exhausted gas from constructions machines and vehicles cannot be ignored. Air pollution which can cause a negative influence should also be considered as a second problem to be solved. Thirdly, quality of population, which is made up of native resident and migrant laborers should be improved urgently. Finally, After all, to make an international metropolis, "hardware" and "software" are equally important.
However, Rome was not built in a day. To carry out the promise of “New Beijing, Great Olympics”, deeds speak louder than words. It is up to the choice of the municipal government, and the local public. After the decision, what they can do is to make the most of the benefit, and reduce the drawbacks to the least. I look forward to a perfect Olympic Games in Beijing.

Family Affection

What makes a home? Love, sympathy and confidence. It is a place where kindly affections exist among all the members of the family. It is also a place where one may feel safe and warm when he or she is hurt by someone else outside. The duty of each member in the family is to try to make one's home cheerful and comfortable. All the members who find their family to be the cheerest place in the world are bound together by affection.
A home without love is no more a home than a body without a soul is a man. The parents take good care of their children, who are always regarded as a colony lack of social experience. Children may make some mistakes or even get into trouble when they are dealing with things in a false way. However, their parents will not always appear to help them in order to bring out the ability of their children. After undergoing enough frustrations, the children can still learn how to solve the problems that they fall across all their lives. At the same time, the children are interested in the activities of their parents. They like to tell their parents what happened on them recently. They sometimes help their parents do some housework when they find their parents to be tired after work.
Actually, family members are tied by blood or marriage. So it is affection that gathers each member together in a family. It is also affection that brings us a harmonious family.

An Experience out of the Common

I could hardly describe my thought when I was told that I was selected from many applicants as a communicator who would go to Xiamen University for a one-year study in 2004. It was filled with joy, excitement, and a little more surprise in my mind. After all, it was really difficult for me to have my talent showing itself among so many excellent students in Shandong University. It seemed to be my hard working day and night which had led me to success.
It took me over 30 hours from Jinan to Xiamen by train. As soon as I got off the train, I was greatly astonished at the cityscrape. Cars were running fast on the square-built road. Skyscrapers could be seen far and near. Greenbelt which made me relaxed and happy was filled with flowers and grass. I regretted that I could live in Xiamen for only one year, without enough enjoyment of the agreeable life.
Xiamen seemed to be a commercial city which is not suitable for scientific research. However, the academic atmosphere in Xiamen University was no less than other famous universities in China. I was busy with my assignments day and night, and I had never felt unfixed during the year.
How time flies! After I had gained plentiful knowledge, I had to say goodbye to Xiamen University and go back to my alma mater. However, the imposing communion which could be regarded as an experience out of the common would become a permanent memory for me. It would also become an impetus on my way to success in the future.

The Road to Success

Are you proud of yourself who has a glorious past? Are you enjoying your life with joy and happiness at present? Are you ready to face what will happen on you in future?
You may regularly recall what you did successfully in the past. However, you cannot go back in time and make a brand-new start even if you have a faulty beginning. The past has passed, and it will never come back again. What you should do currently is facing the fact. You may set a personal goal which you can achieve with your effort. It is known to us all that well begun is half done. However brilliant your achievement has been in the past, if you wish to success, you must regard every time as a new beginning and, what is more, try your best to do what you should do. That is to say, you can start from now and make a brand-new ending.
In short, your idea will come true if you do everyday things well by heart. May you have a perfect future if you stick it out!

An Unfortunate Experience

In order to get a train ticket, I had to stand outside the railway station for nearly two hours, undeterred by a bittingly cold wind. To my disgust, I was told that the wicket at which I had been waiting was not allowed to sell train tickets with student discount. However, it was not my fault for no sign could be seen that selling train tickets with student discount was forbidden at that wichet. I caught a cold at last due to the low temperature.
I am afraid I will never go to the railway station for a ticket during the period of the Spring Festival transportation in Beijing.
